Lecture 7: Cultural Analysis
- Morality**: is all about what is right and what is wrong; how we define what’s right and
wrong
- Expectation: we do something and there’s an expectation; expectations of emails have
changed because of texts; immediacy and privacy are expected; how culture is formed
- Culture is taught; something you have lived, experienced
oShared set of beliefs and ideals that guide what we do
oIf it wasn’t shared, you wouldn’t know what to do, there wouldn’t be the customs
Thy come to be shared by the experience, our parents teach us and our
peers help form the expectations
There are 2 kinds: CULTURE: Canadian culture
culture: small culture, within Canada and Toronto
we have a state of being that is multicultural
oGuide; culture does not determine what we do, it guides you, it does not dictate;
it guides through morality, we make things look a certain way because of morality
