Information dependence: gives others the opportunity to influence our thoughts, feelings and actions via the signals they send us; occurs via social information processing theory. Social information processing theory: organizational members use information from others to interpret events and develop expectations about appropriate and acceptable attitudes/behaviours; members look to others for information and cues about how they should behave. Compliance: direct motive for conformity to group norms; occurs bc a members wishes to acquire rewards from the group and avoid punishment; effect dependence. Person job fit: refers to the match between an employee"s knowledge, skills, abilities and requirement of a job. Person organization fit: refers to the match between an employee"s personal values and organizations values. Person group fit: refers to the match or compatibility between an employee"s values/beliefs and work groups" values/beliefs. Stages of socialization: anticipatory socialization, encounter, role management. Organizational identification: outcome of socialization; reflects individual"s learning and acceptance of an organization"s culture.
