It is not extending product lines, extending the brand, or solve old problems more effectively or efficiently. Produces something new for the corporation & represents, in its fullest manifestations, a complete break with the past. Gives managers of corporation freedom to take initiative & try new ideas. However, saturated markets & mature products are limited room for growth: general recognition that macroenvi & mktplace change much faster. The need for intra: than corporate bureaucracy can. Intra provides large corp opportunity to adapt to increasingly dynamic, hostile, & heterogeneous envi businesses face today. i. e j&j consumer products have matured. J&j also went on corporate buying spree (buyout companies) to grow its increasingly important medical devices business. Gives corp ability & opportunity to conduct market experiments.
