Document Summary
Purpose of circulatory system is to move fluid around the body. Two major components of blood: plasma 55% of total volume of blood. Nutrients: cellular component 45% total volume of blood. Red blood cells: we can see the separate components via experiments. Spinning it at high speed will leave heavier components on the bottom and lighter components on the top. Don"t need to know differentiation of blood stem cell for midterm. Blood stem cell differentiates into: myeloid stem cells differentiates into red blood cells platelets granulocytes, (type of white blood cell) 4 red blood cells (erythrocytes; corpuscles) and haemoglobin (hb) Red blood cells are carry out oxygen and carbon dioxide transport in the body. Purpose of the circulatory system is to get oxygen into the body: red blood cells pick up oxygen at the lungs and transport it to tissues, they are able to do so because of a molecule called haemoglobin.
