Document Summary
Use the same visual in the document and the presentation only if they are simple. Usually the ones in the documents are complex so simplify them for presentations. Impromptu speech: tips to succeed- do(cid:374)(cid:859)t pa(cid:374)i(cid:272), thi(cid:374)k i(cid:374) th(cid:396)ees, d(cid:396)a(cid:449) f(cid:396)o(cid:373) (cid:449)hat(cid:859)s happened, be brief. Psychological effects of public speaking: anxiety and anticipatory anxiety. Physical effects: fight or flight response- pupils dilate, heart beats faster, breathing rate increases, elevated stress hormones. How public speaking anxiety affects us: voice, mouth and throat, facial expression, general movement, verbal behaviour. Presentation aids can enhance your speech by improving at least three audience responses- attention, learning and recall. Attention: since people can think faster than you can talk so people(cid:859)s (cid:373)i(cid:374)ds (cid:272)a(cid:374) wander quickly, a visual aid will help hold their attention. Non-electronic presentation aids: objects (if not the object you are talking about itself, then a model of it), flavours, textures and odours, hand-outs, people.
