Document Summary

Cerebral cortex is divided into 4 lobes: What is each primarily involved in: frontal lobe. Working mem. (aka st-mem: temporal lobe. These divisions differ from those studied on sheep brain. Post-central gyrus is posterior to central sulcus, while pre-central gyrus is anterior. Inferior to both central sulcus and pre-central gyrus is lateral (sylvian) fissure. Inferior to lateral (sylvian fisusre) is superior temporal gyrus. Ie. controls movement of opp. side of body. I think she meant that area of precentral gyrus is primary motor, and area of postcentral gyrus is primary sensory [yes] Major sensory, motor and association areas of cortex. Contralateral control of body movemt (ex) if its on l-hemi, then controls r-side of body. Motor fcns are controlled by opp. side of body. Involved in sensation from contralateral (opp. ) side of body. Also involved w/ contraateral input wrt sensation. Has lot of higher order processing occurring. Higher order processing for sep. sensory/motor modalities.
