NROC61H3 Lecture Notes - Lecture 4: Stim, Spatial Memory, Instrumental And Value-Rational Action
Document Summary
Pavlovian: 2 kinds of association that can form: cs/us or cs/ur. S4: instrumental: is an action outcome relationship, stimulus response learning, pavlovian, instrumental, pavlovian, instrumental. It could have just been a cs/us association: the buzzer and carrot. It could be irrespective of how animal behaved however, grindley then got hamster to turn its face to the right instead of the left and then perceiving the buzzer and carrot. Instrumental learning outcome is the same thing as us--> just diff terminology. S8 positive reinforcement: increases probability of that response in future. Punishment: punishment reduces response rate; when punished it reduces likelihod of you doing that response (ex. disciplining kids); decrease probability of that behaviour hapening in the future reinforcement do something to self to avoid hearing that noise. Ex. doing an exam, if you want to well on the exam (you work hard for an - exam to do well on it)- this is positive reinforecement.
