Document Summary

Free will = could have acted otherwise = more responsibility. Determinism = can"t avoid any actions = not morally responsible. Undetermined = free actions = random = not morally responsible. Determinism has limits does not equal to free will. Ordinary understanding of freedom" show that these are compatible. What dos it mean not to be free? (jail, handcu ed) For it is not, i think";causality that freedom is to be contrasted with, but with constraint . Are we morally responsible when constrained? (hypnotize, chained up, gun at head) I do not act freely for the reason hat i have deprived of the power of choice . This distinction may be coherent but its irrational. In all cases, the actions are equally necessitated. You say: actions are equally necessitated if and only if necessitation is equivalent wit causation. I say: if necessitation is equivalent with constraint, then not all actions are equally necessitated.
