Behavioralists: scholars that emphasize statistical analysis + universal theories by examining a large # of cases or by using complex mathematical equations. Interpretivists: scholars that emphasize an in-depth analysis of polices with a few cases, paying attention to specific country cases. Area studies: the detailed examination of polices within a specific geographical setting, not involving any explicit comparison. Is the field of area studies still relevant for political science/development studies today: a method or approach to the study of politics developing to developed domestic polices (institution, politics, conflicts, etc. ) systematically look at causes and effects. Most similar systems design: the study of differences across similarities; select 2 or more countries similar in all respects except for the phenomenon being investigated. Weak marxist left - strong class identities + marxist parties.
