Somatic system- we are able to command and tell our brain what to do. Sympathetic flight or fight mode, solve problems or there will be survival issues, short term. Parasympathetic relaxed, thinks long term, ex. Digestion and keeping body healthy: touching a hot iron sensory neurons will sense heat, and send messages up your arm and spinal cord. Spinal cord sends signal back to motor neurons but also to brain. You are taking it out when it suddenly burns your hand. If your autonomic system was working, you would drop it right away, (cid:271)ut you (cid:272)a(cid:374)"t (cid:271)e(cid:272)ause you (cid:374)eed it to (cid:271)e pe(cid:396)fe(cid:272)t so you (cid:395)uickly put it down even if it is hot.
