PSYA01H3 Lecture Notes - Lecture 7: Peripheral Nervous System, Reuptake, Neuron
Document Summary
Central nervous system deep decisions are made; primarily the brain. Peripheral nervous system transmits decisions to the body; takes input from the body (e. g. a sensation on your hand) and transmits that info to the brain. Autonomic system automatic system, involuntary; works with organs of the body. When you"re relaxed, the parasympathetic system is on and the sympathetic is not; your body is worried about long-term survival in this mode, e. g. digestion; like maintenance of a house; parasympathetic system is connected to many internal organs. If you see a prof shoot a gun, you feel changes happen to your body, e. g. faster heartbeat; Ght or ight mode is in the sympathetic system; more about doing actions. Somatic system you"re commanding something of your body, impact of conscious will; Sensory neurons pick up sensory info. Interneurons relay that info to the central nervous system and from it to the motor neurons, which are on the muscles.
