Therefore, the goal of therapy is to help clients unlearn their unwanted reactions and to learn a new way of reacting: homework a central feature of cbt. A style of psychotherapy in which the therapist uses the principles of classical and operant conditioning to change a person"s behavior from maladaptive to adaptive. The assumption -- that maladaptive behaviors are learned and must be unlearned for therapy to be effective. Many anxiety disorders (e. g. phobia) are thought to have developed via classical conditioning.
