Emotions are specific towards different people and events. Emotions help us achieve our social goals in terms of responding to specific challenges and opportunities involving interactions with other people. Appraisal process is a component of emotion; patterns of construal or evaluating events and objects in the environment based on their relation to current goals. Fast, automatic appraisals of whether an event is consistent or inconsistent with our goals lead to general pleasant or unpleasant feelings. Appraisal process initiate emotions, which involve distinct physiological responses, such as blush response of embarrassment. Emotions also involve expressive behavior and subject feelings, the qualities that define what the experience of a particular emotion is like. Action tendencies constitute the fifth component of emotion.
