PSYB45H3 Lecture Notes - Lecture 12: Token Economy, Stimulus Control, Reinforcement
Document Summary
Deciding whether to design a program following a referral. If first referred by others, one may focus whether the accomplishment of the goal will be the benefit of the client. If the accomplishment of the goal will be for the benefit of others, it should be at least neutral to the client. If the problem is initially vague you must specify a component behavior or behaviors that: define the problem, can be measured or assessed objectively. Have you eliminated the possibility that the problem involves complications that would necessitate referring it to another specialist? (are you the right person?) Serious psychological problem or a dsm-5 diagnose require other professionals. A behavior is easy to measure when it is: occurring for a short time, under narrow stimulus control, with no intermittent reinforcement. To deal with measuring problem: identify desirable behavior that can replace the undesirable behavior, if have more than one, rank the order of different problem behavior.
