Document Summary

Early selection or early with adaptable filter system. For ex, when hearing to one ear, selection pays more attention to another/opposite ear. Late selection > even semantic processes can remain unattended/unconscious. Low load: motion has high activation, no motion has low activation. High load: motion has low activation, no motion has high activation. Spotlight: attention is confined to coherent region (circular region that pays attention to specific region) of space and can move from one point to the next. Zoom lens model: attention expands from fixationgrows to fill whole regionshrinks to include just cued location. Problems with spotlight and zoom lens models: attention shifts rather instantly, attention can split into more than one focus; not necessarily coherent region in space. e. g. , fmri experiment. Figure subject a and b: att2 is one of the dot on the computer region, and that region in brain is activated.
