Document Summary

Example scenario: letters in the middle of screen and participants must identify them, attentional blink occurs when two stimuli presented within 550 ms of each other. Short interval, probability that second letter reported is less than long interval. Due to applying attentional resources to first letter and running out for second. Oliver and nieuwenhui attentional blink can be reduced: example scenario. Presented rapid stream of 15 letters and 2 numbers (target= #, ignore letters) Ab task presented 120 ms with 17 items in single trial using rapid serial visual presentation (rsvp): quick presentation of successive stimuli. Number of letters intervening between two target digits were varied and after. Rsvp stream, report first number then the second. Attentional blink occurs only when two targets are presented in close proximity thus, most blinking occur at short lags poor performance. Rule: two conditions: must complete ab task in no music and music conditions.
