Behaviour = action, momentarily observation, but fleeting. Scientific study of the relationship between behaviour and the brain. Draws form many disciplines including anatomy, biology, pharmacology, and philosophy. The brain is the source of behaviour. The unit of brain structure and function is the neuron. Brain = anglo-saxon world for the tissue within the skull. Cerebrum (forebrain) = major structure of the forebrain that consists of two virtually identical hemispheres (left and right) and is responsible for most conscious behaviour. Hemispheres = half a sphere, referring to one side of the cerebrum. Brain stem = responsible for most of our unconscious behaviours. Cerebellum = specialized for leaning and coordinating skilled movements. Neurons = control behaviour by communicating with one another + sensory receptors. Spinal cord = what connections between brain and the rest of the body are made through + descended fro brain step through a canal in the backbone.
