Presentation in Tutorial
-18-20 minute presentations
-Summarize the original empirical article and five additional empirical articles selected in the first
assignment
-Purpose: Learn how to present research clearly and concisely with the effective use of visual aids (ie
presentation slides)
-Will help support your work on the term paper
-Introduction: Introduce the research area; make sure key terms are clear
-Summary of literature
-Summarize each individual study
-NOTE: This is different from the term paper, where you will synthesize and integrate
information from different studies
-Conclusion: Provide a synthesis; demonstrate that you can provide concise summary of the state of the
research area, and draw connections across the studies
-Question Period: Be prepared for questions from TA and classmates
-Introduction: 3 minutes
-Summary of literature: 10 minutes
-Conclusion: 5 minutes
-Question period: 1-2 minutes
Term Paper
-Critical analysis of the popular press story selected in first assignment, and literature review integrating
the empirical articles from the first assignment
-8 pages of text (not including title or reference pages)
-Due date: April 4th
-Structure
-Introduction (1 page)
-Critical analysis of newspaper article (2 pages)
-Summary of literature (4 pages)
-Limitations and future directions (1 page)
