Document Summary

You have evolutionary processes that unfold across time. Then you have gene and cultural coevolution that happens at the same time. That feeds into our neural structure, which is the anatomical differences that exist between people of different cultures. We have situational inputs that affect our neural processes. We have physiological responses that happen in combination with brain processes, such as autonomic responses like sweating, heart rate changes, respiration. Ultimately, it leads to behavioral and psychological processes. Joseph henrich says we"re a species addicted to culture, and this is the secret of our success. Thus, when you look at raw individual brain power, we don"t really stand out from other related species. Where we do stand out is our hunger for cultural learning and cultural transmission. We have a preparedness to take in information from other people as soon as we"re born.
