Document Summary
Psyc14 lecture 2: evolutionary foundations of cultural psychology. As long as it is advantageous, it will be sustained. Has to sustain long enough to be replicated. Has to be popular enough to be replicated. Genes are generally replicated with a lot of accuracy. Communicable ideas: have to understand the same language to be able to communicate. Some emotions are more easily communicated than others. Some language is more easily communicated among cultures and generations. Have to have access to be able to communicate. Everyone is more effective is you provide more efficiency in the group. Emotional ideas: if everyone shares a common experience, then it helps the group bond. Help to share useful experiences to help cope with things. Interesting conversations tend to be emotional in nature. Minimally counterintuitive ideas: it is easier to remember. Violates expectations but it isn"t too out there. Easier to remember because it peaks emotion just a little bit.
