Document Summary

How emotions are expressed: posture, vocal, touch, face. Differentiating models of emotion: basic emotions. Emotions are biologically determined (not environmental at all) Emotions have consistent patterns of expressions that are universal: appraisal theories of emotions. But each emotion still has a unique bio-behavioural output. Not all about biology, but about the environment too. Your cognitions, interpretation o the situation and stimuli influences which emotion i feel. The emotion i feel will produce the same bodily reactions: constructionism. No predetermined behavioural, expressive, or bodily response that is specific to any one emotion. Free for all theory i. e. laughing at a funeral. What do these theories say about expressions: basic emotions. Automatic processes elicit specific bodily activations = specific emotional expression: appraisal theories of emotions. Cognitive appraisal sets off specific bodily activations = specific emotional expression: constructionism. Emotions are socially & cognitively constructed, thus emotional expression does not necessarily represent any one emotion.
