Behaviour genetics- examines the role genes play in the formation and development of human and animal behaviour. Sources: 1) influences attributable to genetic effects; 2) environmental influences shared by siblings; 3) influences that arise from unshared experiences. Dizygotic (dz) twins/ fraternal: share 50% of genes. Monozygotic (mz) twins/ identical: share 100% of genes. Shared environments- prenatal and life experiences affecting both twins in the same way; high trait or behavioural similarity between twin pairs. Nonshared environments- living experiences that are different for each twin, raised in a different home environment, participating in different activities; 30% of variation in antisocial behaviour. Concordance- degree to which related pairs of subjects show a particular behaviour or condition supported for limited heritability of antisocial behaviour. Teds (cid:523)twins" early development study(cid:524)- explores behaviour problems, problematic development in language, cognition, academic abilities from early childhood through adolescence.
