Lec 07 human aggression and violence (chapter 5) Passive-aggressive behaviors interpreted as aggressive in intent but behaviour is passive and indirect. Aggression - behavior perpetrated or attempted with the intention of harming one or more individuals physically or psychologically or to destroy an object: ex. Spook someone out, call them using cryptic numbers at odd times, these are still crimes psychological crimes. Violence - destructive physical aggression intentionally directed at harming other persons or things. Social definition - the intent and attempt to harm another individual, physically or socially, or, in some cases, to destroy an object. Modeling: bandura"s bobo doll experiment performed aggressive act towards doll then monitored how kids treated the doll, three types of models. Symbolic models in mass media this does(cid:374)(cid:859)t ha(cid:448)e the (cid:271)iggest i(cid:373)pa(cid:272)t o(cid:374) people because clearly there are many normal non-aggressive people in the world. Cognitive scripts model: learned and memorized through daily experiences.
