Document Summary

Ps(cid:455)(cid:272)hologist ro(cid:271)ert hare refers to ps(cid:455)(cid:272)hopaths as (cid:862)social predators who charm, manipulate and ruthlessly plow their way through life, leaving a broad trail of broken hearts, shattered expectations and empty wallets. Secondary psychopaths commit antisocial or violent acts because of severe emotional problems or inner conflicts (cid:862)a(cid:272)ti(cid:374)g-out neurotics, neurotic delinquents, symptomatic psychopaths or simply emotionally disturbed offenders. Dissocial psychopaths display aggressive, antisocial behavior they have learned from their subcultures. Primary psychopaths should be distinct from apd. Apd always involves criminal behavior; not all psychopaths are criminals and not all criminals are psychopaths. Psychopaths are more apt to be outgoing, charming and verbally proficient, could be criminals but many are not. Superficial charm and average to above-average intelligence. Often appear well educated and knowledgeable and display many interests. Verbally skillful and can talk themselves out of trouble. The charm, deception and impression management used by psychopaths do not usually lead to success in life.
