Classical conditioning: operating at a level of making associations quickly without us being necessarily aware of them. For example: ucs (injection of morphine) ucr (euphoria). Environment in inert on its own, but over time if context is paired with this particular pattern, then neutral stimulus can become conditioned stimulus. Drive theory: drug addicted individuals develop drives (motivational states), to achieve a drugs positive reinforcement effects.
