Development and socialization: development is a change of how we are, socialization is the change of how we think and behave. We see at this age: autonomy is a western value set. But that"s not true in other cultures. Chinese parent"s believe intervention in a need for sensitivity. A lot of interdependence involves in the monitoring. A lot of people go through role confusion and try on different things to see where they fit in. It"s a western ideology, not seen across the world. An infant progresses from reflexive, instinctual action at birth to the beginning of symbolic thought. The infant constructs an understanding of the world by coordinating sensory experiences with physical action. Preoperational the child begins to represent the world with words and images; these words and images reflect increased symbolic thinking and go beyond the connection of sensory info and physical action. Not just about the senses but imitative and creative play.
