Document Summary

Ses health gradient: there are many ways to measure ses for every way you can measure, you will always find it s better to be richer than poorer. but there is always some cases that contradicts the above: physical and mental health outcomes, social experience is biologically embedded. But this is a modest relationship and there s a huge variation that is not explained by ses: moving from nations, cities, neighbourhoods, families, relationships. What filters and regulates the biological embedding: early relationships, communities, behaviours. What is the relationship between biology and psychology: reciprocal, develops, evolves. How to study dynamic relationships between biology and psychology: hardwired behaviours (instincts) that can be conditioned (e. g. attachment, flight/fight, coping etc. ) Identify critical experiences that shape individual differences in that behaviour. How does stress get under your skin: chronic and repeated stress is bad for physical and mental health, moderate and brief periods of stress, however, are adaptive and can enhance your learning.
