Moderating characteristics- the effects of stigmatized identity. What is it like to be a target? (video) In 1954 they asked children what dolls they preferred and most of the kids attributed the white doll with positive characteristics. 15 out of 21 children liked the white doll. Even when the participant was black they still chose the white doll, but when asked which one she looked like she chose the black doll. This study mirrors kenneth clark and his wife"s experiment. It is unclear what these things mean, but it is evidence like this that shows that you shouldn"t just look at the perpetrators but also the victims. Matthew sheppard was a young gay man.
