Executive functions help us behave in a goal-directed way. You have to find a goal and decide why it is useful. We often struggle to break down the details of the goal and be concrete about what it is we wanna do. You gotta clearly define goals, the more likely you are to attain this. Distraction is bad because they stop you from achieving what you want but there is high individual variability. Easier, and it is difficult to break. How can we make situations so people can be more comfortable changing. Goals help us behave in a way that is internally driven as focused on what we hope to accomplish.
