Until recently many types of crimes against women , especially marital rape and so- called date rape were largely ignored in canada. Prior to the 1970s government did not even collect data on sexual harassment or physical violence against women. General assault: assault with no real good cause behind it , we have the right to defend yourself, but laws of self defense in canada are weak . In common law, equity applies when the law turns out to be foolish and its silly. When people are obliged to carrying a piece of weaponry, the crime rate increases consequently. Aggravative assaults: when you do significant damage to someone else, but the damage is unprovoked. First degree murder: the planned killing of another human being. Second degree murder: the murder is unintended, and wasn"t planned out. Most violent form of sexual assault is rape and less severe form is called molestation.
