Normalizing the gendered body: we gender the body conditioned to believe whether people are male or female, what types of activities we can do, who we make friends with, this causes broader normalizations about the space we share. Traditional gender roles help integrate society : who should be passive, rational, assertive, gender roles, define attractiveness being feminine. Conflict and feminist theory: critiques of essentialist accounts there is historical variability of gender and sexuality, the abilities we are told to have/not have, male dominant gender, social identity and anatomical body is the same as your social identity. Gender roles: boys and girls are treated differently, girls beautiful, weak, delicate, boys strong, alert, well-coordinated, parents did not tell anyone the gender of their child, everyone was enraged called it unethical, said the child would be bullied. Gender segregation and schooling: boys do better in spatial and logic-based activities, girls are more proficient in language and expression.
