Tabula rasa (blank slate) , peaceful, god- given rights. Believed people were peaceful at their base core. People create contracts with each other to live and get along. Need everyone to be playing by the rules and not stepping out of line. Hierarchy is normal and so is competition rewarding the people that fit in the best. People not feeling the communal sense that people need. Domination of one class over others, achieved by winning the consent of society"s members through force or persuasion. All social structures are created by interactions.
