Results are quantifiable: encourages us to regard the world as a rational, ordered place wit ha clearly defined past, present and future. Why qualitative research: it involves finding out what people think, how they feel, and what people know, or what they say they think and how they say they feel. Why is this useful: attempting to make sense of, or interpret phenomena in terms of the meanings people bring to them. 4 main types of interviews: telephone interview. Can hire researchers to do the phone calls. Allows you to do a random sample. Random digit dialling: allows you to have access to those who aren"t listed in the phone book. No visual ques and might not get their full attention. If you call, how long will people be willing to talk.
