Compeiion on job forces cause upward spiral of educaion qualiicaion. Credenial inlaion: too many well qualiied applicants hr/employers do not have ime to look at numerous applicaions. They need ways to limit down the # of applicaions through: bureaucraic screening device: increase educaional qualiicaion. It screens out applicants even if the job itself is not complex or demanding: e. g. sales job in the past, it would mostly be hs students. Nowadays, undergraduates are in sales: teachers not all of them had degrees in the past. Professionalizaion: raised entry educaional requirements leads to raised status and presige of occupaion and irm. Also demand of higher salary: customer/clients have more trust in a irm/employees who have degrees. Criics: professionals work just as efecively w/o university degrees no evidence that in the past, they were incapable. Jobs were not any more diicult than in the past: however, police oicers get university degrees experience rapid promoions than non-graduates.
