The i(cid:374)flue(cid:374)ce of (cid:862)surrogate co(cid:374)su(cid:373)ers(cid:863) if you are a record publisher, or movie studio you are aware that most of the things you will reduce will fail because of the oversupply. The job of the boundary spanners is to influence surrogate consumers: cultural markets and the production of ideas: Specific industry conditions change what type of culture is produced. Secondly all hits are flukes: two parts one is due to the oversupply, and audience tastes change overtime. Nobody knows if something is going to make money are not because consumption processes are random.
