A sender encodes a message (the media) for the receiver to decode. Noise are factors that gets in the way of proper communication. Examples of noise: literal noise, distractions, mood (i. e. tired), temperature, technical bugs and issues. Listening: focus fully on the speaker, avoid interrupting, avoid seeming judgmental, show your interest. Nonverbal communication: match nonverbal skills with your words, adjust your nonverbal skills according to the context, use body language to convey feelings. Managing stress: recognize stress, take a moment, look for humour, compromise, agree to disagree. Emotional awareness: understand what is troubling others, understand what you really want, communicate clearly and effectively, resolve conflicts. Informal groups: types of formal groups, command groups: established in an organizational chart, task groups: groups of employees who work together to complete a project or job c. Interest groups: employees unite around a particular issue.
