Liturgical drama: act on public religious ritual: sermon, service, specific set of rituals, religious but same features as art. Leitourgia: specific citizens were required to carry our certain rituals: paying service to something: just like religion, you pat a service to gain something, chant: hear on prezi. Roman and athens were guiding light, socially and culturally but not in the european region. Not trying to preserve culture at a high level. Very little is being passed down (little text), largely oral culture. Church emerged as a political organization and developed a negative point towards. Christianity is one-god religion so its better . Theatre was associated with un-christian values: pretending of be someone else was considered false, it was also present in greece times, this was called anti-theatrical prejudice. Another problem: things that go on in theatre: drinking, sex, gambling, prostitution etc. Because it is associated with gods, (greek gods), that are not ours.
