VPHA46H3 Lecture Notes - Lecture 4: Trojan War
Document Summary
His irst complaint is that troy is too far-reaching. This is to say that whereas homer placed all his emphasis on one batle, troy is built around the enire conlict between the greeks and trojans. This complaint means nothing in the context of the ilm as it is based around opinion. For the sake of character development and providing context to an audience that doesn"t have a background in greek mythology, the scope needed to be broadened. This complaint doesn"t mesh with the author"s other classiicaion of troy as not an epic as an epic by nature is meant to be grand in scope. He also complains that troy feels like a lotr spinof with boring batles. This is a strange one as near the end of the review he complains that the batle scenes don"t share enough with those created by peter jackson in the lord of the rings.
