Later performed in downtown on a broadway show, first time performing for white audience. Performed with fats waller in the broadway show ain"t misbehaving . Played the music in hollywood comedy check, double check . Ballroom, known as the home of happy feet . Big band composed of 3 sections: saxophone, clarinet, trumpet, trombone, rhythm: drum, bass, piano. Had good player, but lacked tune to play that characterized the band. Henderson sold his book & arrangement for goodman"s band. Wrote new arrangement for popular tone as well. In 1932, there was a challenge between the top pianist at the time including johnson, smith, Multi-style that instrumentalists combined acting and showcase with playing, style found in white performance as well. Audience did not dance & watched performance instead. A sense of patriotism in his music, no sarcasm & satire.
