National news: justin trudeau was accused of elbowing a female of the ndp in which he later apologises and says he did not see her in the crowd- some referred the incident as " man handled"". Earlier that day trudeau was apologising for the komagatu maru incident: ship filled with immigrants from india and other places that came to canada after stopping in japan. They were maltreated, not given any food and had to sail all the way back. In the news there was a transgender man who strangled an 8-year-old girl and the community backlashed at insulting the transgendered community. Cis- identification with your assigned gender at birth- allowing us to naturalize or idea of women/men. Andrea smith: claims she is white on the inside, black on the outside. It is one thing to construct whiteness but to claim another race is problematic. Our understanding of what human is and who humans are changes all the time.
