North coast of bc, just north of the mouth of skeena river. 3-period sequence, defined by g. macdonald, 1960s: p3: 5000-3500 bp; small site components, redundant artifact assemblages foragers, p2: 3500-1500 bp; forager/collector transition; villages by ca. 3000 bp): very old permanent village; 10 houses of equal size (much smaller than historic) egalitarian corporate group ; very limited faunal, but salmon appears to be critical. Mcnichol creek site: 1800-1300 bp; 15 house village; house o; salmon is dominant; no longer egalitarian: less hearths but more people in these houses .
