Document Summary

Ant 100 lecture 4 primate and human evolution. Plesiadapids not primates: did not have postorbital bar (the bar over top of the eye. Their eyes just rest in their skull: claws instead of nails, claws attach to bones, nails do not. Nails can fall off if hit hard enough but claws can only be cut off: their eyes were placed on their side of the head. Primates have eyes looking forward: enlarged incisors. Huge gap between incisors and the rest of the truth. Cladogram shows that plesiadapids are mammals and shows the common ancestor all mammals came from. Plesiadapids were in fact primates just not the first primates. They were roaming around with the dinosaurs or being eaten by them. Eocene time: geology looks more like modern geology, hottest time period according to records. But then everything changes, global temperatures started to drop and continued to drop.
