Document Summary

Emergence: the increase of a disease in a human population. Resurgence: the increase in incidence of an old disease. Abdel omran proposed this theory in 1971, based on his observation of various disease over time. The age of pestilence: increased rates of infectious disease due to increasing urbanization. The age of receding pandemics: declining infectious disease due to increased sanitation and prevention: one you get it really declining you start to get a reduction in fertility rate, as well. The age of degenerative and man-made diseases: increase in chronic disease load due to dietary change and an ageing population: chronic diseases like cancer, balance-off in populations wherein some have no increase in natural population rate. Development of a european disease pool : we have populations who are meeting, bringing their diseases with them. We have, then, this broad disease pool, which is the sum of all diseases with which the eurasian populations have become familiar.
