Starting to engage with ecological structuring with architecture (cid:1) (cid:1) Foreign office architects: new synthetic landscape: two things are coming together that it"s interrelated. (natural and artificial, society = interested in biological technologies (e. g. cloning, etc) Trying to engage with those themes in project: challenge man vs. nature. First architect that talked about landscape replacing architecture. Landscape urbanism = position against planners" and landscape architects. To set up a screen/enable portrait/picturesque landscapes to exist: wants to move beyond this. Landscape = making places that look good. Landscaping = doing planting plan for an office building. More interested in city, system and flow. (mapping +++) = landscape urbanism. Project: where should i put a road through the valley: agricultural value, aquifer value, ecological value and best route. Influential, how to approach design in a scientific way.
