Most material will be from late republican period, 1st c bce and early imperial period (including pompeii, which was preserved better than later paintings incidentally) Representation of myth doesn"t stop with introduction of christianity (constantine duh) Main 2 periods: republican (early, middle, late) and imperial (other subsections) Stepping back this covers a period of 1000 years, and its remarkable that visual culture hardly really changed. The meaning of myths changed, but they are all linked in that they continue using this same visual language.
