Beginning of the 5th century, the emperor moved the capital moved from rome to ravenna because rome was vulnerable to attack. Ravenna because a western capital in all this mess. Galla placidia married a barbarian king, transitional figure. After the romans and her people were conquered by theoderic, ostrogoth, barbarian leader took the city of ravenna.
