Document Summary
Light globe in mirror, not from direct source. Light bouncing off floor but can"t see reflection. Can"t see light because light is being absorbed. Goes through something and comes out the other side. Ex: look through window, light has travelled through window and into eyes. Frequency: number of times per second a peak passes you. Speed: rate at which a peak (or trough) travels. Ex: wavelength = 2 metres, frequency = 3 peaks per second, speed = 6 metres per second. Light is an electromagnetic wave (electric currents and magnetism oscillating in strength and travelling through space) The wavelength (or frequency) determines the colour and energy of the light. The shorter the wavelength, the more energetic the light. All travel at the same speed, wavelength/frequency matters. What we can see with our eyes is only a tiny part of the story. White light is the sum of all colours. A prism splits white light up into a spectrum.
