The black hole in the centre of our galaxy is actually much larger than cygnus x-1. Some elements tend to escape being devoured by black holes, and the elements that escape tend to be shot straight out like jets. Sometimes the elements being shot out can go to a speed close to the speed of light (c. ) The black holes that are the centre of galaxies are called supermassive black hole at the centre of our galaxy, which has a mass of 4 million times that of the sun. The sun"s diameter about 100 times earth"s diameter. The sun and the earth are about 8 light minutes away from each other (a probe that was sent out to the sun only took 6 months to get there. ) Until 1925, people thought the sun was made up of similar material to the earth.
