Document Summary

Lantana camara invasions in india threaten tiger habitat. Best way to see a tiger is to put the tourist on an elephant due to respect, tourist is protected from harm. The plant has invaded, the plant leaves a scent (secondary chemical defense mechanism), when the tiger gets the chemical on their fur, it prevents them from attracting mates. They now move into open areas and higher encounters with humans, harming people. Cane toad (bufo marinus) native to neotropics and introduced to puerto rico & hawaii where it successfully controlled cane beetles devastating sugar cane crops. Later introduced to australia but not successful in reducing beetles and multiplied prolifically reducing biodiversity, especially reptiles. Control doesn"t work and instead has affected reptile biodiversity. Introduction of the nile perch to african lakes has resulted in the extinction of endemic cichlid fish species. Led to extinction to many cyclic group fish because this large fish is a predator.
