Document Summary
A piece of evidence that this motor can move actin filaments is shown in the slide. What was done in this experiment was that purified myosin was attached to a glass slide. The little green stuff is the myosin 2 motors. You can see the head domains on them and to this was added fluorescent labeled actin filaments added onto this slide. Then atp was added and the filaments could then be seen to glide at 4 microns per second. This is shown in the picture and there is the actual data and one of these actin filaments labeled in red. In these pictures at the top, we can"t see the myosin, only the actin and you can see how the actin filament moves up to the top of this field of view and whereas the green one moves downwards. This is because of the action of these myosin motors on these filaments moving them across this glass slide.
